Colours

Is there a thread already started somewhere on the various colours & terms with pics? Being new, I'm just starting to get familiar with all the jargon.

In the meantime... (I've already asked this in my newbie intro but didn't get an answer yet. So I'll ask here) If someone asks me what colour my snake is, what do I respond?

Normal (aka classic, wild-type). But the pattern is aberrant. I might call that Aztec. Do you have a better pic of the back?

She's an Okeetee Aztec. (I assumed Aztec was referred to the pattern)

When I'm asked what kind of corn she is, that's what I respond & when asked (like when I filled out the form at the vet's) what colour is she exactly I just go err... uhm... rust? Reddish brown? I don't know!

How's this?

Quoted Nancy so I can sound intelligent. Not really, but man, I really do love those classic corns. Nothing fancy, but they are beautiful.

When you fill out the form at the vet, you use her morph. Or lack thereof. Aztec normal, or Aztec classic. She has a really, really, really, really cool pattern!

Thanks Bitsy, I came across that site the other day when I was trying to find more info on colour. I searched & the more I found, the more I went like this :eek1::blowhead: Lol! Some colour terms are easy, like lavender, caramel, pewter etc because they look like it. *Sigh* So much to learn...

Really? Aztec is the colour term I use? Alright... I'll update her file when I'm there next week for her follow up. So when it asks what type of corn she is, I write Okeetee?

Awesome, thanks Nanci.

Yeah she's a pretty cool snake. I love her colouring. Shame not everyone appreciates it as much as we do... some people cringe when you try to shove a snake under their noses so they can have a closer look at it & you try to make them forget it's a snake but rather try & admire the beauty in the colours & patterns as the sunlight hits it! Lol! (Just joking) ;)

Alright... got it... & here I thought Okeetee which is a "locality" (looking at the link provided)... which I thought meant where it was from because it had "Miami", "Alabama" etc but those are meant as the colour? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah I get it! Took a while but I get it now. *sniff sniff* Eww what's that smell? Oh it's the smoke from the cobwebs in my old brain getting singed!:crazy01:

Thank you!

So about this "Amaretto"? ...

Well, Miami and Okeetee "phase" is a selectively-bred look for normal cornsnakes. You could also have locality animals that were actually colected in those places, although that is less common. Typically, when speaking of Miami or Okeetee, it is a line bred coloration of the normal cornsnake.

She has a really, really, really, really cool pattern!
Thank you! :) *chest puffs up proudly*

I'm in awe of her colouring & how it changes as she matures.

Since I saw the thread on Tesseras, I'm really liking the look of them as well... ugh my husband would kill me! :sidestep: Though I think I'd rather get more experience with Martha before getting another.
