Forest Bark

My friend recently gave away his ball python, and he was using Forest bark for its substrate, so he gave me what was left of it, a BIG bag.
Though I know Aspen is the best substrate for Corn snakes is Forest bark still acceptable?
The terrarium looks much better with the bark in it, then it does with the aspen.

There aren't many benefits to bark, it's dusty, non absorbent and I feel like I read somewhere that it molds quite easily if it gets wet...it can also be quite abrasive. And the snakes can't burrow. But, in the end its up to you.

What would happen if you mixed it with aspen?

I've used it and believe it or not my hatchlings still found a way to burrow under it. I have since changed to aspen since it is cheaper and my corns seem to enjoy it more. But if you got a free bag go for it just remember to still clean out your whole terranium as often as you would with the aspen.
