I have caught them in the past when I was a kid when I lived in Maryland that had flaming red blotches. I swore up and down that they were corn snakes. :nope: Just wishful thinking on my part.
So how can you tell the difference between the two? I swore this was a corn that got in her grocery bag and was in the produce! They did let him go back in the yard safely away from the cats !
The head pattern is the first thing that I notice. Corns (particularly wild type corns - some of the pattern morphs can really change the head pattern) typically have wide bands across the nose and up to the eyes and usually some form of arrowhead pattern on top of the head.
