Help with herp identification! (Iguanas)

Sacred_Nightmares

Only slightly crazy...
So on a trip to Cancun, Mexico, we visited the Ruins of Tulum, and ALL OVER the area, were a ton of these protected iguanas. I'm familiar with green iguanas, red iguanas, blue iguanas, but these ones are different. You'll notice they're all very GREY in color and have spikes on their tails? o_O I'm confused as heck and google didn't help me out too much.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :]

Yup they are indeed Spinytail Iguanas they could either be Mexican Spiney tail Iguana (Ctenosaura pectinata) or a Central American Spiney tail Iguana (Ctenosaura similis). I have one they are your neat looking Iggies.

Here is a link to the Mexican-
