Not to be rude, but filling the thread with "oh gross" and swooning over an educational picture just made me feel like we could all use a reality check. You see worse on public TV.

I am not quite sure what your concern is,...don't think most of us who responded had a problem with the pic being posted. I myself was just being silly when I posted the first time. It's NOT a pretty sight, educational or not! (the term "bumping uglies" definitely applies to male corns let me tell ya) I think it's a great picture and i have never seen one like it showing such detail. Fascinating, but gross at the same time!

Yes, it's educational, yes it's to be expected on the breeding forums. But yes, it IS gross. Serp did an awesome job photographing it, and it is really fascinating. I don't think anyone was trying to be childish by saying it was gross, just a fact. I was joking about thinking it would be a picture of a Dodge.......how come nobody got that? "HEMI" LOL

If people are gonna be tongue-in-cheek with their "oh gross" comments, they should at least indicate that with a winky. ;)
:sidestep:

Well not everyone is as mature as you guys. :sidestep: lol ;) The immature is to be expected... But there's still no problem! It was a VERY graphic picture.

I thought the LOL was self explanatory sorry. Here's my winky ;)

Spirit, Hemi is the name of the motor they use in some Dodge trucks and cars. :grin01:

BTW, why is everybody so TOUCHY today? Can't we have a little fun without things having to be so serious all the time?? (Checks to see if it is a full moon tonight) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Serp...that is a KILLER picture...
By FAR the best representation I have EVER seen.

And the egg laying GIF is very cool, too, Hurley...

Would like to see full (or even slow) motion video of egg laying...it is such a neat experience.

LMAO, the "winky" pun must've slipped in under the radar...

BTW I did get the Hemi reference. The original title I was thinking of was a play on the old "this isn't your daddy's Oldsmobile" commercial. ;)

That guy had just finished breeding and had gotten some stuff stuck to his hemipene. We pulled him out to remove the debris and just snapped a pic while we were at it, since it's about the best example I've seen of what one looks like "in action" so to speak. ;) He was in the process of retracting it and did so within a minute after that picture.

I have had males evert hemipenes when they smelled a female in the cage they were in or whereever they happened to be at the time...usually hyperexcitable young males that are just learning about the wonderful world of being a breeder male.

A female in season will gape her vent open for the male, yes. It's not a wide-gaping hole, but she does open the cloaca.

k its time for me to put in my two cents, first off maybe alot of us newbies ors people that don't breed didn't know "Hemi..." ment snake penis, i wasn't really paying attantion and i though there was going to be a pic of a snake named hemi, ha. it didn't bother me that i saw it, it was really educationa, but if you didn't know what to expect it was a shocker.

Great pic!! Serp reminded me of the great old days in biology class. Those were some good times. now I'll know what it is when I see it again. Hurley enjoyed the egg laying to. Thanks to both of you.
