Hot spots on mouse?

Naagas

Deserae :)
One of my 3 female mice has multiple bloody sores on her body.
I have been scouring the internet and have found that these lesions are referred to as 'hot spots' and are caused by itchiness which leads to obsessive grooming.

Usually this is a food allergy thing?!?

I have taken out all treats and just have the mice on their food blocks.

Have any of you experienced this?

Yes, I considered just culling her, but she is pregnant and that just seemed wrong.

Advice?

Hot spots are often from too much protien, most feeder/petshop mice can't tolerate more then 15% I would try a different diet and see if that helps. Peanuts, wheat and sunflower seeds are common allergies in mice.
Is she housed with other mice? They could be fighting, especially if she is new to the group. Is she itching? Another cause can be mites or lice.

If you need pinkies I'd cull her after she delivers just because the itching from hot spots can become cronic. I had a female with mites, I treated her for them and she still scratched her ears off.
