Well, I wasn't planning on it but one of our local garbage truck drivers and his wife contacted me. Apparently someone put a corn snake...still in aquarium (ALIVE) inthe trash.
Being a garbage truck driver you are strictly not allowed to take home things that are to be thrown out. He kind of broke the rules, had his wife pick it up and they began looking for a home after failed attempts with the humane society which wanted to charge them 50.00 to take the snake. Well, long story short Im picking him up tomorrow.
Hopefully things will go ok, they say he seems to be in good health and eating well but somewhat timid and may snip if startled.
It sounds to be a classic but I won't know till I pick him up.

Wish me luck!

How disgusting. My solution is this, pick the snake up and care for it, but save ALL it's poops and rejected mice if there are any and periodically leave them about the lawn that he was found at... ;)

That poor snake. I have a friend who took in a Burmese python that was left in a house after foreclosure. And she was pregnant, no heat and winter time in Minnesota. Treat him well.

People actually do that?? Good lord! Poor snake. Good thing the garbage guy did something about it... Now I have this overwhelming urge to tell my dad this story. He used to be a garbage man..

Good luck with the rescue! Sounds like the poor baby really needs a good home about now! =)

DANG!!! That is truly sad. How can someone just toss a living, breathing creature into the trash like that! I'm so happy your able to give it a home. Can't wait to see pics.

What a story of good vs evil!!!!! It is a disturbing that someone would knowingly leave a live critter for trash pickup, knowing that the trash trucks (at least here) crush and compact the trash and such a death would be a terrible way for any critter to die.
It is heartwarming that the trash guy saved the little guy and that you are giving him a new life, you are awesome for taking him in.

Poor little guy! Good on your garbage man for picking him up though :). He definitely racked up some major karma points.
