Aspen is the white shredded stuff that you usually see in hamster cages right? and is it pine because i want to change my bedding over from carpet to something else thanks

No aspen and pine are two very different trees. You can get pine and cedar in any departement store, but I've only seen aspen in pet stores. Pine has chemicals that can leach out of the wood and harm your snake!! Please insure that you do not get pine or cedar and get aspen!

Aspen is from a popular tree (as was nicely pointed out to me in a thread one time). I had always heard it was pine, also.

Pine is coniferous and aspen has regular leaves. (Pine is problematic because of the sappy oils that are present in the wood.)
