New Snakes Arrived

The truck drove past me as I was walking home for lunch and I got home as it was driving away again. I rushed inside to open the box. I've finally got my baby Amel and Anery!!!! I transfered the snakes into their temporay ice-cream tubs and found that they were the complete opposits of each other. The male Amel was so sweet and tame and was crawling all over my hands- I thought this was very nice considering it had been in transit for a whole day and was probably very stressed out. He's so sweet.
The Anery, on the other hand, is the spawn of Satan :))). She is very aggressive and seems to stay permanently is the striking pose. Hopefully she'll calm down in the next few days.
I keep getting really confused as the Amel is male and the Anery is female. I think amels just all look female and vice-versa with Aneries.
Another confusion: I ordered an Amel but the label on the box says Candycane. I won't have photos until Monday so I'll describe him to you: Peach background, red/orange saddles with a sort of lavender border and orange dots in between the saddles. What do you think? Has anyone got any pics of hatchling Amels and Candycanes so we can compare? Of course, it would be nice if he was Candycane but I am doubting it.

Hehe...I tend to think the same thing...amels just look so darn feminine. Probably the pink ;)

Well, here's my amel as a hatchling...she has a fair amount of orange now.

I think that candycanes and related (miami and crimson) don't have the orange dots between the saddles...at least, not very pronounced ones.

My 'Amel' looks a lot like the candycanes posted on this thread. Mine is basically the same colour-wise but the orange is a little more pronounced.

Here's a pic. I used my crappy old digital cam- I'll be borrowing a good one from dad's work on Monday (I hope). I'll post some of the Anery then. You can hardly see the lavender borders around the saddle but you can just make them out at the bottom of the pic.

Yeah, maybe the breeder just made a mistake or put it in the wrong box. I'm going to wait untill he's shed a few times and hopefully that will make it more clear- I'll see what happens to that orange.

looks almost exactly like my amel boy here

"spawn of Satan," huh? Sounds absolutely adorable! Post a pic of the little devil asap!
Congrats on your new babies!

Congrats on the new babies, Neil!! I think your new male is already very fine looking. Love his colors! Keep the photos coming. :)

The Anery has calmed down now and crawled up my arm when I lifted the lid to check on her. Nevertheless I've named her Admete which is Roman and means 'untamable'. I just thought it was a cute name :D. I have named the Amel Achilles which is a name I've always liked- it means 'lipless' which, I suppose, is appropriate for a snake. And I've just read that Artemis, besides being the name of a godess means a 'high source of water'. Very unusual :).
