Repti-Vita and Repti-Cal

Both, I believe, by ZooMed. I received several samples of each at my most recent AHA meeting and was wondering if they could be used for my snakes? They both talk about crickets in their instructions, so I don't know if they're snake-safe or not. Obviously they aren't necessary, but I was hoping they could help little Mouse put on some weight or something.

I could be wrong, but I believe those are normally for lizards and the like, since the stuff is put on insects and veggies. I think snakes that eat other vertebrates don't need those kind of supplements, since they get all the calcium and vitamins from their diet.

I don't know the answer (sorry) but I wanted to mention that I have the exact same question. I got some samples at repticon and I have been meaning to post a question asking if I should use them occasionally or if I should just toss them out.

Hmm... I would probably err on the side of caution and not give it to your snakes. It is possible to have vitamin and calcium toxicity in animals, though I don't know how much, or even if, snakes can get it. The only time I've heard of using calcium and vitamin supplements for snakes were non-feeders that had some added as part of a liquid diet. -shrug-

If it were my snake, I wouldn't do it. But I would save it, so that maybe someday down the road I'd have lizards that could use it. :}

Your snakes don't need them but if it makes you feel better it would not hurt to give them a little on a monthly basis. The body does not store vitamins and will just pass them making really healthy poop.
