I recently obtained a snow corn. 10 min after this he escaped in the car (long story). We found him under the carpet in the back seat 18 hrs later. When we recovered him, he had some black grease on his neck and head (from burrowing under the carpet). There is also a small spot on his eye. Since he has been home, it has faded/worn off some. My wuestion is 'will it just come off in his next shed, or should I be more concerned?'. He is alert and active. He spends MOST of the day on the warm side (usually in the hide, sometimes burrowed). But he also spends 3-6 hours roaming the viv. He is very young (10g) so I he is not looking for a mate. The activity I assume is normal (he started doing this after 3 days of just plain hiding...I am guessing it is a making sure his territiry has not been messed with thing). I have yet to see him on the cool side, but it IS somewhat cold even for me. Probably 60 or so for me. Probably a bit higher for him if SOME of the heat mat radiates to the cool side.

As long as there's no sign of infection or injury near or under the grease, then yes, it should just come off with the next shed and not cause any further trouble.

Behaviour does sound normal. I'd do a quick check that the temp on the warm side is OK as sometimes overheating can cause spurts of activity, but if that's OK, then don't worry.

seems like a lot of ppl have lost corns in cars lately
i'll make sure to have all mine shipped here instead of pickups from now on
im sure your snake will make a full recovery

Turned the heat down a tad. Still doing the super active thing, but has modified his down time to warm hide or hugging the probe (warm hide being off center of the mat is most likely slightly cooler?). Although I DID see him sneek into the cool side hid tonight. And he is now sleeping on top of his plants on the cool side.

Well, Attikhiss (middle name still slick) shed yesterday while I was at work. It appears to be a complete shed. No patches, eyecaps there etc. And the grease which was still there (after a month) is gone with the old skin. He seems more alert and less jumpy (helps that his vision is not partially blocked on one side anymore I suppose).
