When to switch to 2 pinkies?

I haven't been here in awhile, so I thought I'd gotten pretty good at being a snake owner. lol I have a question, though. When should I go from one pinkie a week to two? I've seen feeding charts, but they're all based on weight. I have absolutely no idea how much my snake weighs and nothing small enough to weigh him on to find out. He's approx. six months old and 17 inches long and has been eating a pinkie every 4-5 days or so. I've been trying to watch the "bump" and haven't noticed it taking him as long to digest.

Any tips based on age/size/girth that might help me know when to go up to two pinkies?

Thanks!

Try it now and see how she does. If your snake is 17" long I think she should handle two. Watch how long it takes to digest. See how eager she is for more in 5 days.

Understand that I am HIDEOUS with spatial estimation. I couldn't live without my scale. You can find a really inexpensive scale. Its worth the investment. I think mine was 12.00 ?

Remember that the prey you feed your snake should be 1 1/2 times in width than the girth of your snake. A lump should be visible.

Good Luck!

Or you could feed two every 7-8 days for a while, if she's not that hungry after 5 days. Remember in the wild food isn't always the same size on the same day, things vary.

Thanks for all the tips. When I fed Indy last night, he literally jumped all over the pinkie as soon as I showed it to him -- made me really glad that I was using tongs! LOL It had only been 3 or 4 days since he'd eaten. He was obviously hungry and appeared to be looking for more. I'll definitely be offering two at the next feeding.

Thanks!

Now saturday I'll feed my snakes their first double pinkie meal.
They both weigh 20g. both around 44cm.
