what do you do when you lose power?

Hey everyone, I'm up in seacoast NH and I'm still without power since thurs night. Just wondering if you have any tips (other than "buy a generator"). I've put my corn in a large tupperware with some aspen, a lid full of water & several hothands inside of socks so he can stay warm. I don't...

20 L tank/screen free for anyone local to me, Zilla thermostat for cheap

Oh boy do I have some stuff lying around... I have a 20L tank in my garage. It was originally used as an aquarium, my friend gave it to me. As such, it has some scratches and will need a thorough cleaning (I'd imagine goo-gone would be helpful to get the sticky stuff from the background that...

ASUS eee pc and other netbooks

Yeah, so I was thinking the other day "wouldn't it be awesome if I could lie on the couch and browse the corn snake forums on a smallish type laptop deal?" I went in best buy and checked out some ASUS eee pc, 8.9" and 10" netbooks. I have been going back & forth, but think I want to get the...

    Yawn!

So, I swear I just saw my snake yawn. It wasn't like he was resetting his jaw or anything, it absolutely looked like he was yawning. I dunno, maybe he is trying to loosen up the skin around his head so he can shed, but has anyone else seen this? It was pretty funny.

    Mexican Cat Snake

Found this guy in my toaster oven. He was enjoying a nice meal of kitten, think I may have startled him a bit:

    The Snakes that Ate Christmas

So I made these guys a while back in Dec, before I had even joined the forums and gotten my corn. They're made from Sculpey III polymer clay and then glazed with Sculpey gloss glaze. I hope to make more & better ones this holiday season, now that I have a snake model! Enjoy.

    Neat cheap photo project idea

So today I was a bit bored & opened the closet to find some old frames I had picked up and had done nothing with in over a year. I threw together this little 3" x 3" thing with some chopped up 4" x 6" prints that I had done at wal-mart for about 9 cents a print. Total cost was under $10...

    Weird scales...wound?

So as I was taking some pictures I thought I'd get an up-close shot of my snake's two weird looking scales. One I've noticed for about a week or so, but the other is new to me. They're both in generally the same location, same saddle: I'm thinking maybe he poked himself on something in...

Another one of those outside pics threads!

I haven't done any outside pics yet, plus I wanted to take some macros so here are mine! These aren't very representative of his colors, he's just gone clear and the bastard just wouldn't shed, but I decided to take him out for photos anyway since it was freakishly warm out. Enjoy!

    Sphagnum Moss

This may seem like a silly question...but where do you guys get sphagnum moss? I just went to the pet store and they didn't have any, they sold other kinds and some unlabeled stuff, but I want to make sure I get the right thing.

Colonel Slithers Jun '08 Abbott's Okeetee - Progression Thread!

So, it's about time I made a true progression thread for my little guy! I don't have a scale yet, but for the time being I can give a few stats: Name: Colonel Slithers (I've just been calling him Colonel) Born: Jun '08 Length: ~22 inches March '09 Mom & Dad: F-1 & N...

    Couple of questions...

So, I have a 20 L tank setup with UTH / thermostat. I ditched the suction cup that the thermostat probe came with since I knew it needed to be on the glass to get an accurate temp. My little guy likes to tunnel through the aspen & occasionally move things, so I'm wondering what is the best way...

    Good reptile vet in NH?

So, now with my snake on a plane and headed up to his new home, I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a good herp vet in NH (or MA/ME if close to seacoast NH). You know, just in case... I want to be prepared.

    New setup

Hey all, I just set up my new snake-to-be's enclosure tonight. When I can lug the stand upstairs it won't be sitting on the floor. Here it is: 20 L (30 x 12 x 12) tank with sliding lid Aspen bedding (2 - 2.5" deep) Large water dish (I figured he might want to soak so I wanted it big...
