    Advice re: a laying female

Hi! I've been on the forum for quite some time but I don't often ask for help. I'm a bit concerned about a gravid female who began laying yesterday at some point while i was working. She's a four year old lady, proper weight, and was successfully bred last year, laying a clutch of 15, 100%...

When to give up on nonfeeders

I have three babies who hatched a month and a half ago, and have still not accepted food. I'm losing hope. I've attempted: teasing, braining, slitting, boiling, heads, tails, scenting w/ tuna, the deli cup method, the paper bag method, feeding live, and moving their containers to a dark, cool...

    Skin problem with hatchlings?

I hatched out a beautiful clutch of high yellow Butters, Amels and Caramels this year. All were born extremely large and vigorous. It's been a month since they hatched out, and a few days ago, I noticed what appeared to be bruising beneath the chins of three of my hatchlings, and my heart sank...

    Incubating at room temps?

How do you guys feel about this? I've heard that it's a good way to hatch out babies, although it takes longer. I'm considering it. I have a closet that stays about 80 degrees year round. Does anyone else incubate at room temperature?

Protecting bottom of a wood viv

I heard someone mention here once that they placed a layer of sealed linoleum/tile on the bottom of a wood viv converted for snakes to protect the wood. Is that a good idea? I'm converting a massive viv for a non-corn resident, but this is good info for any DIY project, so I hope it's okay that...

Fun thing my snake's been doing.

I have a male rescue Amel Motley/Stripe thing, who, when I received him, was terrified of everything, even his own shadow. He would rattle his tail and bite all the time, hide in the darkest corner of his viv, absolutely panic when I handled him, just, everything. He has four hides in his tank...

Making a viv, need wood suggestions!

So, I'm making a DIY viv and currently coming up with specs, but i'd like to know what safest woods to use are? Is oak safe to use? I just don't want to accidentally use ANYTHING that excretes oils or fumes, so if anyone has and tips or tricks, or even unrelated advice to making your own viv...

    Any guesses on this girl?

Picked her up from an expo yesterday, she was underneath a bunch of normals, but when I pointed her out, they couldn't figure out what she was, and didn't have her genetics on record. She was just labeled as a normal, but I and the guys I got her from think there's something else going on...

    Missing scale?

So, my non-feeder finally ate, and now, again, the little guy is giving me yet another scare. I took him out yesterday for his first time being really handled since the entire non-feeding fiasco began. Upon taking him out, I found that he had what appeared to be an all white scale, or possibly a...

    Non-feeding babysnake.

I have a hatchling male Bloodred who has refused food now since October 5th. i received him in September, but he's fed only twice with me in all of that time. His temps are 81 on the warm side, 76-77 (Fahrenheit) on the cool side , he has 5 hides. He's in a large Kritter Keeper, actually. I...

    Safest branches?

So I live in the Adirondacks and hike quite often. I occasionally pick up a nice branch here and there for the snakes, but because spring is coming, I've been seeing a lot more pine, and i refuse to use pine AT ALL for my snake's tanks. I will note that I thoroughly sterilize and kill any pests...

    Group shots??

Any tips on getting snakes in for a group shot?? I have a near-adult size female, two year olds and a hatchling, and I want to get them all together if possible for a quick shot. What's the best way to get them together, not stress them out and how should I monitor them? Should I have another...
