After two snakeless years, I have been sucked back in

With a job change, I thined my collection to one very special snake, the first one from the first clutch I ever produced. Well, she tragically died, and I pursued other interests. Until I was given a male from that first clutch last week that had lived with a friend of ours for a couple years...

    Diffused gene markers question

I was re-gifted a normal male that I hatched in 2013. Dad was a blood red and mom was a snow. He's just a pretty "normal", but has very strong belly checkers. Would that be common for a het diffused snake?

    New Everglades Rat Snake

Found this beautiful girl(?) on Craigslist. She has really nice color, even though the pics washed out the orange a little.

Pics of the whole corn snake family

Yesterday seemed like a great day for some photography. Its not great, but it represents them pretty well. I have a really nice Everglades Rat that I will post in the general discussion forum also My Butter Motley Mistress(2012): The very first snake I ever produced in 2012, a normal het...

A very tan normal, or something else?

This is Murphy. Our 6 year old discovered him hiding in a wood pile last October here in NE Ohio. Presumably, he is an escaped or released pet. I understand that "classic" corns can be extremely variable in their coloration, but I wanted your expert opinions on him. His belly checkers have...

    "Mistress", the Butter Motley

Picked her up a couple weeks ago to eventually mate with my Gold Dust Motley. She's a pretty little snake that is mellow and eats well.

    My first "wild" Corn

Caught this guy in my friend's fire wood pile last night. Either a released pet or a stow away from down south. He's very blue and wasn't very cooperative for pics. Very gentle though.

Is there a similar site for boas?

I'm itching for a boa. I had a Columbian Rainbow Boa as a kid, but I'm leaning more in the direction of a Hogg Island or a male BCI of some sort. Problem is, their genetics are WAY more confusing than Corn genetics and I have no idea what I'm looking at. So... is there a place like this for...

Rats. for a pet and breeding feeders?

So... Wifey wants a pet rat or two. Not a huge deal really, our house is like a zoo. I have never kept any rodent smaller than a rabbit. Can they be both a pet for her and the kids and used as a food source for our snakes? Will 2 dumbo rats produce enough little ones to feed 2 adult...

    Meet Gold Member!

I picked him up from Forked Tongue on Tuesday. He's an adult Gold Dust Motley, and he is very friendly. We are looking forward to making some Ultramels and then breeding the holdbacks rows the road.

I have too many males, how do I value them for trade?

Hey everyone, My wife LOVED that we just had 4 hatchlings, and wants to have more breeders. However, we have an awful ratio of 3 males and 1 female. We are considering putting them up for trade online or at the reptile show this weekend. The market is quite variable though. Here are some...

Finally... First ever eggs are hatching!

2 of the 4 good eggs hatched yesterday and today. Looking foward to 2 more healthy babies. They are both normals het amel, anery and diffused, so I wasn't able to proove any hets in mommy or daddy snake. Their patterns are very nice, and no kinks or deformities, whoohoo!

A watched pot never boils... Can't take the anticipation!

Our 4 remaining eggs are at approximately 55 days and I find myself checking them several times a day. This is our first clutch that will be all normals with good hets, unless mom and dad have something hidden that we didn't know about. Ugggh! The waiting is horrible!

Is the Steel City Reptile Expo worth a 2 hour drive??

Hi everyone, My family and I usually visit the Cleveland Reptile Show but we are thinking about venturing to the Steel City Expo this Sunday. We aren't really looking to add to the collection but that is subject to change, lol.

So... I have this night crawler... oops, Eastern Milk snake

New addition to my private zoo tonight. :crazy02: Are they picky eaters? I have some pinkys, and I'll try them after a few days to settle in. Should I just try mouse tails? Thank you! My Lampropeltis experience is limited to a fiesty California King I had as a kit.

Uh oh! Accidently bought Vermiculite with miracle grow in it... How bad?

Did I ruin my eggs? I accidently bought Vermiculite with Miracle Grow in it. Today is the 3rd day they've been sitting on it. Are they dead?

    First clutch... ever!

My Snow corn surprised me this morning with a clutch of 11 good eggs! She locked up with our beautiful Bloodred, and my wife and I are really excited to see a whole bunch of babies in a couple months. A nice clump and 3 stragglers Vascularity in all of them! Ruby and Penny(post coitus)

Finally got my baby to eat! Now what?

Thank goodness! In mid July, I bought a Casper the Ghost Corn, a hatchling from the reptile show. He went into shed the first week we brought him home and my wife and I were optimistic, because my other snakes are usually ravenous post-shed. He would absolutely not eat! I tried teasing...

    My new Opal... right?

In the search for a male for my bloodred/diffused, I found this Opal female and couldn't resist picking her up for $40. She was born in 2010, and and is a little over 2 feet long. She's more flighty than my bloodred, and it wasn't easy getting pics of her. I'm pretty sure she's really an...
