    Aquarium Cleaning Day!

Besides looking after my snake (Loopy) I have this 10 gal. aquarium. I used to have a 75 gal. but it really was too much to take care of for me. I'm not 30 yrs. old! So now I have this one which is small but manageable. Today was cleaning day! The fish hate it but it's got to be done! It's a...

    Ring Necked Snake

My son found this at his house under some wood he was moving. He and I didn't even know this snake was in Delaware! It's a ring necked snake and is known to be highly venomous ... what? okay, very venomous ... okay, okay .... mildly venomous. Depending on where you look and who you talk to, it's...

    Camping in VA

Went camping in Chickahominy campground, near Williamsburg, Virginia and got home yesterday (July 27). While camping I took a short hike and found this guy out in the open and he took off for the underbrush. He did NOT want any part of me trying to get a photo! I had to hunt him down for awhile...

    Thawed Out In Fridge

If I thawed out a mouse in the fridge over night, but had to wait another day to feed 'cause life got in the way, would it be okay to use it? It wouldn't hurt my feelings if I had to pitch it. Just wondering. Thanks!

    Green Snake in Delaware

Went camping last week and on the last day I found this little green snake! The 'out of focus' shot would have been great - oh well - ... but I still wanted to include it here ... he was not happy! Didn't bite me once but he did grab himself by accident! Those crazy snakes.

'What I Did On My Summer Vacation'

Towards the end of July we were on vacation ... a caribbean cruise to an island or two ... here's some pics I took with a disposable waterproof camera (including the selfie!) My 1st attempt at snorkeling ... only sucked up a couple gulps of salt water (cough ... gag) Lizards, yes ... Snakes, no

    Loopy's New Home

Got my UTHeater today and finished setting up Loopy's new home! I put him in his new viv and haven't seen him since! He's in there somewhere though ... He went from a 10 gal (plenty big for a hatchling) to his new 40 gal!

    Nature Walk

Took a little unplanned walk today! Out taking a short motorcycle ride (on my little Honda Rebel) and came up on the Edward McCabe Nature Preserve. I've been in here before but knew they were doing more work on the trails so I stopped. I only had my cell phone for a camera. Not expecting to see...

    First Heart Skipper

Have you ever looked in your viv and felt your heart skip a beat? I had the day before put in a new Repti Shelter (humid hide) with damp moss inside. Later I went to see if Loopy had discovered it yet (I knew he hadn't, it was too soon and he's not that adventurous) and noticed the top of the...

    Loopy's Thread

May as well start one so we'll see if he changes over the next 6 months! On January 10th he turned 6 months old! Time flies by. So today he got weighed ... 16 g. and measured ... 15.7" Yes, still a little guy. But he ate a 'regular' pinkie today (as he did last week) and it took a little...

    Food Jump?

I've been feeding Loopy one 'small' pinkie every 5 days. Now he's up to 15 grams and I thought I'd up his food a bit. The feeding plan I'm using says at 16 g. feed 2 regular pinkies. I thought that a bit strange ... jumping from 1 small pinkie to 2 reg. pinkies. So today, for the first...

    After The Shed

Here's a couple pics of Loopy after he shed last night. Not a whole lot of difference yet, hard to say what he'll look like as a big boy. But he's still alive and doing his thing, and that's all I want! :) He'll be 5 months old on Dec 10th.

    Loopy goes out

It was a nice day out so today was Loopy's first ever outside photo shoot. This is just one of several I took. Shutter speed is much better outside. I'll need to play around with the camera this winter if I want any good pics later! **A Loopy Pic**

    Crazy Snake

Just fed Loopy and instead of moving off to his warm hide like a real snake, he climbs his vine to the very top and rests! He doesn't do this every time, but I've seen it before. It's not cold today so maybe he knows whats best for him. Anyone else see this in their snakes?

    A Couple October Pics

Loopy shed last night so I figured I'd try a couple of squirmy corn photos! Can't wait till he's a year old and just a 'tad' less wiggly.

    Small Things Excite Me

I've always given Loopy the chance to eat like a big boy, but he would never do it. It required putting him and the pinkie in a paper bag for 2 hours ... which worked thank goodness. Today for the first time he ate outside the bag! I was so surprised (and excited!) I slowly (didn't want to...

    Snakes Alive!

Today there was a nice program called Snakes Alive! offered at Trap Pond State Park, Delaware. It showed the different types of snakes native to Delaware and a bit about each one. Didn't realize there were so many different types in Delaware! It was presented by a park representative and was...
