I got these kids today from a nice couple but im unsure of what they are. Im waiting to see pics of the parents as i was told these came from a creamsicle x lav pairing, but these babies are hypos. Im just unsure of which hypo. Anyway, all opinions welcome. Once i hear back from the breeders, ill update the thread.

I've got no experience with the trait other than seeing pictures, but lava was the first thing that crossed my mind as well (I think it's the purplish saddle borders).

My experience is also limited to pictures but my first thoughts were lava or strawberry are involved. Anyway, these are very nice!

They look just like the hypo's I hatched out. A few of mine have the wine eye's. Maybe an Amel influence? Do you know if the Creasicle was het for Lav or if both parents have Hypo? Plus you have to factor in what influence the Emori Rat will have on the color.

The breeders told me creamsicle x lav and didnt mention any hets, but that cant be right. These babies are some kind of hypo. I was actually thinking ultra myself, but what do i know? Im waiting for the parents pics to make my final assessment on possible genetics. Of course, if the sexes work out to be 1.1 then ill know more in a couple years.

I'm a little confused by these. Creamsicle would be an Amel/Emori. Cross that with a Lav and you would get ???? I would think something a little more on the classic side but I'm not too smart when it comes to the hybrids and their influence on colors. So ????

Hopefully you will get some more info when you talk to the breeder.

BTW, when you say Lav, are you referring to Lavender or Lava? When I see Lav, I generally assume Lavender. I see a few people took it to mean Lava.

Well, can't wait for the update. Regardless, they are definitely some cuties!

Yeah, my bad. Lav, to me, = lavender. Ive no experience whatsoever with lava. But they do kind of resemble lavas.

From what i saw of the entire clutch, there were 50% normals (dark orange and thick black borders, and 50% hypos. But creamsicle (emori x amel corn (yes?)) x lavender would produce all normals het creamsicle (amel w/emori influence) and lav, or creamsicle opals. Or something to that effect. Im not too good with outcrossed genetics either. Im IMPATIENTLY waiting for parent photos.

If there were hypos in that clutch, then that's probably what these are. Meaning both parents are het hypo. These two look great with some great genetics to play with. Will be a fun pairing when they get older.

Good Luck and thanks for sharing them. I'll keep watching this thread for updates.

If 50% of the clutch is hypo abcd, wouldnt one parent have to be homo hypo? If both parents were hets then the expected percentage would be 25. Now that youve pointed that out to me, i REALLY need to see these photos. Im hoping that one parent is hypo abcd amel, and the other parent is a lav het hypo. That would make this deal even better. But until i know creamsicle or not, these babies will not be going near my other corns. Im a purist at heart. No offense to the hybrid makers, of course!

Not necessarily and don't get all caught up in the numbers. Just because a progeny predictor says you could get 25% of something, that doesn't mean that you will only get 25% of something.

Case in point, I recently hatched out a clutch of 18. I had a 16% chance of getting hypos from that clutch. Dad was anery het Hypo, Amel and ph Motley. Mom is a Classic het Amel, Hypo, Lavender and Motley. I got close to 50% hypos. Actually I got 8 Classics, 7 Hypo's, and 3 Amels. I also didn't get a single Motley in this clutch. Does that prove my male is not het for Motley? Nope, it just proves that I didn't get any in this clutch. The only true way I will able to determine that is to breed him to a homo motley.

Everything is going to depend on how the genetics match up. A progeny predictor is only going to give you possibilities. Nature and chance is going to determine the rest.

Good call. I guess the parents will be the deciding factor. Im too impatient for this.

It all boils down to what the parents really were. But if both parents are het hypo and not het for each others homo traits (amel, and lav.)... then your hypos should be het Lav, and amel, right?
Was the creamsicle a true creamsicle(amel), or a cinnamon creamsicle? A Cinnamon would just be a Hypo creamsicle. It is certainly plausible that a Lav would be het hypo...

I'm guessing they're Ultramel. The chances of a Creamsicle and a Lavender both being het for Lava is very slim, but if the Lavender was het Ultra, then crossing with a Creamsicle would give you 50% Ultramels...

Oh F@$%socks! Yeah, i finally got the pictures of the adults today and the sire is definitely a creamsicle, in my very humble opinion. Hes certainly got the nice reds and oranges that seem to show in pure amel corns, but his head pattern is too funky for me to think hes not a cross. And the female is a lavender het hypo, although the breeder isnt sure which hypo. Im sticking with the ultramel het lav for now. The only thing bugging me is that the babies have the ruby pupil that is common to hypo A. I guess im still confused. I can post the adults if anyone wants to see them.
