Incubator from cooler????

I wonder if this will work?? I was told to buy a large plastic cooler put 4 inches of water in the bottum with 2 bricks. Then a submersible aquarium heater set at 80 to 85 . put in the boxes of eggs, stacked if needed.

What do you think is this a good idea?

Richard

i've heard that this method has worked for a few people. Personally,i'd test it out for a few weeks to see if it hits the right temps and humidity.

Only system we have used and it works wonderfully - just make sure you get a good heater (Ebo Jager is reliable) and monitor temps regularly (we have a temperature probe in egg boxes.

I don't use a cooler, just a 32 gallon rubbermaid tub. This season I did wrap it in insulation, but there is some heat loss through the top. Actually seems to help keep temps stable a bit. Problem with coolers, in my opinion, is while the outside dimension is large, your inside dimension is relatively small. Hence the price to get something functional. Anyway, here's a pic of the two tubs I use:

I'm in the process of finding a decent medium sized fridge to convert that into an incubator. Haven't been looking too aggressively, but have kept my eyes open.
