Hey guys, I have three corn snakes and I just like them so much. But the problem is that I want to hold them all the time, but I can't because Im afraid that they will jump and bite me. Has anyone had the same feeling and overcame it. I wnat to be able to hold themwith out any fear. any advices would be great, and experiences too. Thanks:licklips:

well do they act agressively or is it just an inner fear that they will? I have a great bond with my adult corn snakes and they have never even reared their head or struck, even when I smell like food, although I do have a feisty baby that has struck but even with minor handling he has stopped.
I wouldn't be afraid, but for some people it's easier said than done, but that being said corn snakes are usually non agressive and if your's are not showing agression then don't worry, snakes are often seen as unpredictable but unless you've been handling their food you can usually tell if they'll bite, but my corn snakes don't even try to bite even if my hands smell like their food.
If they seem agressive take it slow, wear gloves if you have to, corn snakes don't have large teeth so most gloves will stop a bite from touching the skin, and when you get more confident and they seem more calm take the gloves off.
If it's just a matter of fear and your snakes are calm, then just hold them, I have people that are so scared of snakes hold my corn snakes without incident, there's not much else I can give them to calm their fears except to tell them just to hold them and see for themselves, so if your snakes are calm just hold them and don't get spooked over every movement, if they were going to bite they would have done it when you grabbed them (unless you have'nt washed your hands and smell like you've been handling mice), so my advice is just face your fears and hold them, let them crawl through your fingers and twist around your arm, because as you hold them more and more I guarantee you will see that they will not bite unless it's in self defense.

Have you ever been bitten? It seriously doesn't hurt and it's more of a surprise then anything. As far a bite wounds go cornsnakes area joke, a few tiny pin pricks is the most damage I've seen. Put the rough side of some velcro on your arm and give it a good tap, that's what it would feel like if you ever get bitten. Hope that helps and good luck with your little friends. :D

haha, I was going to say that a corn snake bite would'nt hurt anyways, but I figured if she was somewhat fearful that might not be the best advice.
if it's strictly fear, trust me there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of, corn snakes are the most easy going gentle snakes I've ever held so just hold one for a while, walk around watch TV with him/her and just get comfortable, I've never been afraid of snakes, but I guarantee the more you hold them the more you'll find out about how peaceful they are and how they have no desire to just bite, tame ones enjoy being held and almost cuddle to the warmth of your hands and they are such docile snakes.
