Kazarus
Awesome Since 1984
I apologize for the late introduction.
I've been here almost two weeks. I sort of just jumped right in with pictures of my corn snake and questions I had.
So here we go.
My name is Greg, and I am 24 years old and live in Louisiana.
I'll be honest, until now I've never really cared much for snakes. My childhood was kind of bad and I spent a lot of time in the woods around my house to get away from home life.
In the woods, just about every snake I encountered - and there were a lot of them - was downright mean. Even then I knew they were just being defensive and I was the trespasser, but still. Whenever you encounter an animal and it tries to hurt you, they can't help but develop a bad reputation in your mind. Or at least in mine
Plus I was used to cats, dogs, rabbits, etc. You know, furry things that show affection. From a standpoint based on logic, I couldn't really see how one could love something that, if bigger, would kill and eat you. Cats and dogs and all sorts of other popular pets all learn to love you, or at least gain some kind of loyalty. Snakes, if anything, just learn to tolerate you.
However, over the years I've dropped any prejudices I've had and have learned to really enjoy and be excited about snakes. And my friend expressed interest three weeks ago in getting a pet of his own, I was the one who suggested a snake. I hadn't really considered getting one of my own (I already have three cats, a rabbit, and two African-Clawed albino frogs), but I thought it'd be cool to be able to hop over to his house and see it and I knew he'd really enjoy a snake as well.
You can guess what happened from there. As you guys say, they're addictive. I think I lasted two or three days after he acquired his snake before I was saying hello to mine. So far, it's been a blast. If it wasn't for lack of finances, I'd have a room full of them (not to be a beggar, but if you guys ever want to donate a free snake and/or any accessories - I'd jump all over that offer :bowdown
.
With no further ado, here is my corn snake Basil (Might be an overused name. I saw it on Google and even though it might be cliche (based on Basilisk) I still liked it a lot!).
I've been told on here that it's a Hypo. And until I get its gender proven, I'm assuming it's a Male based on the tail.
And here's my friend's two corns (I don't know what morphs they are - though the first looks Lavender and the second looks Amel to me)
Sorry about such a lengthy introduction. I really hope I can contribute to this community and make some new friends here. And of course, I hope to learn so much
