just wanted to show the difference between the same morph, from the same clutch!

these two are sisters. the first one, Winifred, is the one i held back because of her perfect saddles. she is gorgeous. the other one we sold to our friend. he brought them over in a tupperware the other day so i could judge what size f/t prey to sell him, and i managed to snap a few pictures. i was taken aback at how absolutely different they look!

they were produced from a Normal het. Snow x Anery het Amel pairing. we got 9 anerys, 4 amels, 2 normals, and 2 snows.

so here is Winifred:

and here is KO (i think that's her name)

it's fascinating to me how Winifred has kind of a golden color to her, and KO is really black, with very clear white across her saddles. Wini wasn't even in shed!

they also both weigh in at the EXACT same weight! i'm really eager to see what they look like as adults!

just thought i'd share how different two of the same morphs (from the same parents even!) can be.

and just for fun, here is the other snake my friend also got, again from the same clutch, a snow named Medusa

Well, I am taking a guess here but... your snake is a ghost. The other is an anery. That would show why there is such a difference in the look :)

I have an older female ghost that is het for hypo, amel and anery and looks Exactly like yours.

I had to ask because your snake really caught my eye. I love when ghosts have that deep border to their saddles. Beautiful babies you made there :)

i really don't think she's a ghost...both parents were actually my boyfriend's snakes before we got together. both pet store finds. they were bought at different stores, at different times, i believe. i highly doubt either of them, and DEFINITELY not both of them, would be het for ghost. we got really lucky and the normal turned out to be het. snow and the anery het. amel.

but ghost? that would be a real long shot!

What were the parents? They would both have to be het hypo to get ghosts I beleive :) Did you get any hypos?? Maybe what you thought were normals were actually hypos??

Well... daddy looks to be a normal but its possible that he is just abit dark for a hypo. I have about 7 hypos babies at the moment.... want me to go take a pic of them for you? they look very different from each other but all are hypos :)

the parents were the anery in the first 3 pics, and the normal i just posted. and yeah i consulted the genetic genwhiz and they would both have to be het. hypo, and i really totally think that's unlikely.

i just can't believe how different they look.

mind you, i just picked up this male who was sold as "just" anery, but i am almost certain he's het. blood, and some even think he's a charcoal.

Well, if the male is a hypo and the female is het.... that would explain it. Hypo is a pretty common het so it wouldnt surprise me at all. The stores I sell to... one sells my hypos as normals. so... I am not too surprised anymore at what ppl can come up with LOL

The male in that link... to me.... doesnt look charcoal, too much yellow I think but... with those lovely red specks? Oh! Will be fun testing him out! I am jealous! A blood would be the first thing I would check him with and a hypo would be the second. He is really lovely!

Before the first shed?? Well LOL I would say hypo snow since I think the male is hypo and the anery is het for it. That baby is Way too pink for a normal snow. IMHO Especially before a first shed.

i think it would be waaaaay too lucky to have gotten an anery het hypo, amel, and a normal/poss hypo het snow. but stranger things have happened.

i'll get my boyfriend to clarify in the morning, but it's possible the snakes were bought at the same time, maybe even from the same store. i just thought they had been bought separately, because the male was actually his "friends" snake, as in, left it in my boyfriends care as he moved away to university for 4 years. and then once his uni was over, he just said we could have the snake because we've been feeding it for so long, and had already bred it. he just planned to get a different snake in the future. and he did get a new snake, a pewter! it's quite lovely.

but anyways, i would definitely like some opinions on this hypo situation... maybe when all the lovelies of cs.com wake up tomorrow morn! :p

hehe I hope so. I am hopeing I wasnt throwing my 2 cents in when I should have saved them LOL :D I still think you had very good luck and some really beautiful babies :)

indeed, i was so thrilled when the first snake (an amel) hatched out! for one, because it was our first hatchlings ever, and for two because that meant both mom and dad were het for amel! which we were not expecting AT ALL! but i was even MORE thrilled when the first anery hatched out...because that meant there *should* be some snows as well!! and i got my wish, there were 2

I had the same thing going on last year. Dad was a ghost, mom a normal. It turned out mom is a normal het. amel, anery, hypo and stripe and dad is a ghost het. amel and stripe.

Nice snakes btw :)

Greets Tania

I don't think your baby is a ghost, just a more brown anery. There is so much variability between individuals. Also, the sire is an awesome looking normal. He has too much black on his borders to be a hypo. Gorgeous clutch though!
