How long will pinkies last if vacuum sealed?

Amanda E

Snake Addict!
I need to know how long pinkies will keep in the freezer if they are vacuum sealed.

I want to buy a bulk shipment of mice for my snakes in the next few days. I don't need any pinkies right now, but I will in the summer. If I buy them now in bulk I can save money, that is if the pinkies will last that long.

Obviously I don't want to buy them now, if in the summer they will no longer be any good.

Can someone enlighten me?

Hi , one thing to think abought before you buy 100 or more pinkies. How many snakes do you have? And will they eat all of them before they grow and are ready for fuzzy or even hoppers.Maybe call the place you want to buy from , and see if they will mix some pinkies, and small fuzzy and large fuzzy mice in the order and give you a discount price . I bet they will .To end up with leftover pinkies is penny wise , pound foolish . I have extra pinkies and think I will have extra few fuzzies too. I may have to buy another corn to eat them up , would be a sin to through out good frozen mice !!!

Alicia:

Thanks for the info. I kind of thought that they might last that long, but didn't want to risk it without knowing.

Thanks. I guess I should have specified why I would need the pinkies. I am planning on having 1-2 clutches of cornsnakes this coming summer, so if all goes well, I will be needing quite a few pinkies.

Not to cause controversy or stir the pot but I did want to mention a fact that I came across while practicing Falconry a few yrs ago...while those pinkie will "keep" for the length of time mentioned above I would put their nutritionial value at minimal after 3-6 months. I ran across a study that listed the food value for the vitamins and other assorted elements that slowly loose their potency over time...

Just some food for thought...

Regards,

Lee
