1 male & 2 female(i hope) in the same cage - does it work?

I've two snakes that I doesn't know the sex of. People tell me different things. They've been in the same cage for 2 yrs and nothing has happened. So probably they are of the same sex.

I think it's 2 females, so after the hibernation (1½ months ago) I put my male in the same cage as them.

Do you think the male will mate with both of them (if they are females) or doesn't it work with 3 snakes in the same cage?

My sunglow female (i hope) had her shed for 4 days ago, but I haven't seen any "action" yet, but I haven't been at the cage that much either.

Can't you give me any suggestions or tip what I can do to make this work ?

I've only had one clutch, and that was last year with my snow female & male .... and they've lived in the same cage since my snow female was a baby.

So, i'm very fresh on this :)

I keep groups of two and three together and they breed without any problems - so to answer your question, yes if you have one male in with two females, he will be able to fertilise both.

HOWEVER....

Having said that, I NEVER house snakes together until I'm certain of their sex. If you accidentally have two males in with one female and they're both ready to mate, you have a recipe for disaster on your hands. They will fight over the female and you could end up with injured snakes or worse. It also seems possible that you may even have three males together, which is a riot waiting to happen!

I think you should separate the snakes as soon as possible and get a vet or expert to probe them and tell you what gender they are, rather than guessing. A little patience will do wonders for your snakes in this situation.

You should be aware that many knowledgeable people disagree with keeping Corns together full stop, and only put them together for limited periods of time during the mating season. I suggest that you research some previous threads on this and other message boards before making up your mind whether this is really for you. You have to know your snakes very well as individuals for this to work and if you don't even know what sex they are, I'd say you're probably not at the right stage for this.

I've had my snakes for 4 yrs so I know them as individuals.

I'd bought the two snakes as females, but I got conserned when they didn't hooked up last year when I had my male there, but perhaps we didn't try that long.

I keep my snakes two & two in very big cages and there have never been any problems. So the male is just on a visit in the females cage.

I've tried to find expert that know how to probe, but with no success.

But, thanks for the tip :D
