10-gallon or 20-gallon to start? Reptile shows

Hi there, I'm trying to decide if I should purchase a 10 or 20-gallon tank for the baby cornsnake we don't have yet! Is Zilla a good product, and what's the best place to purchase in the US?
What are opinions out there about buying from a reptile show vs. pet store or having one shipped for a first snake? There's a reptile show Dec. 17 not to far away from me. Advice about figuring out who's trustworthy at a show?
Thanks!

I would get a 20 gal. That way you don't have to upgrade for a while, if at all. And I would recommend going to the expo or purchasing through the mail for your snake. You will get a snake directly from the breeder who will be able to tell you everything about the snake, you can get a nice morph of snake for same price or cheaper, probably healthier and you will have a great support system if something does go wrong or you have any questions.

Yeah, a 10 gallon's plenty big for the first year, but it will need to move up at some point, so that's your choice.

I'd stay away from the pet store if you have easy access to a reptile show.

I would go for a 20gal, that way you all set for a long while, if not totally. Zilla cages I believe are highly recommended because of how they are made (the screen being a good secure one). Places to look...I would just look locally at the pet shops near you. I would think shipping for a tank could be costly. I do know that petsmart carries the zilla model.

Then, I would go for the reptile show. You can pick up a neater morph than a pet shop, and should be able to find a healthy one. Just talk to several people selling the corns before picking one. I would ask about how often it ate, if it has any hets, etc. Asking about hets even if you don't want to breed can give some insight on how much the "seller/breeder" knows about the corns they are selling.

If you find one you like ask them if they bred it or not. Sometimes you can find a person that breeds pythons selling corn snakes that they did not breed..but they got as non feeders or a whole sale lot. I would go for one that actually bred the corns...

Hope that helps...
