55 gallon vs 40 gallon tank vs vivarum

I'm not sure which one is better. At first, I thought "55 for sure", until I found out that the difference between a 55 and a 40 is that a 55 is longer and 40 is wider. Which one would you pick?

Or would you rather have a vivarum? Though, for me, it would have to be something I could stick a UTH on and not 1,000+ dollars. o.o

i was just in this same situation and i went with the longer tank (even though i think mine is a 33 long). i figured that since he is going to get really long, he can stretch out at least most of the way along the front or back. and i know that, at least in my house, that it was easier to find someplact to put a narrower tank than a wide one beacuse it just fits on a dresser and i didnt have to buy new furniture. just a thought :)

Yeah, you're right. it would be easier to find a spot for a 55 than a 40.
I think we had a 55 before, but my mom threw it away. At least, I hope it was a 55, because it nearly covered all of the dresser.

I like the 55gl over the 40gl but the 40 gl has more floor space and the 55gl is taller. I have a few 55gl and they are 48 in long by 12 in deep and 20 in high

Personally, I've got a 40 gallon breeder. I love it's footprint, 36" X 18". Lots of floor space for Lukin to explore. Also lots more room to decorate. I'll admit, it is much harder to find a suitable stand, as well as a place to put a wider tank. It's really up to you and what you'd prefer...
