A Sign of Stress?

I read a thread here on the forum where someone said their snake "showed signs of stress, as she 'struck a pose' for nearly an hour." I was wondering...is this true? My corn "strikes a pose" pretty frequently. She usually will lift her head 2 inches or so off the ground and freeze for quite awhile. She does it after being held and on her own. I can't imagine that this would be a sign of stress, but I wanted to check with people more experienced than myself. Thanks!
