Aarg, shedding? Reverse Okeetee.

So the first chance I have an opportunity to snap a few pics of Wade and, of course, he looks like he's about to shed for the first time.

I'm not sure if he's about to shed though. He's a reverse okeetee. From what people tell me, it is notoriously difficult to tell if this morph is in the blue. I got him 7/11, and he hasn't shed since I've had him, so I figure he's about due for one.

His colors look muted to me, and the last time I handled him, he was definitely less active than he usually is. He still explored my lap, but there were fewer escape attempts.

Is this normal for in the blue snakes, or should this decrease in activity be worrisome? I attached some pictures, but like I said this is the first opportunity I've had to take pictures, so I can't show before and after. Does he look in the blue to anyone familiar with ROs?

Very pretty snake! A good way to tell is to look at his underbelly. If it is kinda "clouded over" he should be shedding. Thats how I tell with Erricca.

Well, for my amels, snows, avalanches, etc, I really take a good look at their eyes. I've gotten pretty good at telling now.

Just give it time. You'll be able to differentiate soon.
