Adding a W. Hognose to my family!!!

I am so excited!! I found a baby W. Hognose and will be receiving it next Tuesday!!! I just fell in love with this species when I saw pics of it on this forum. Thru searching the web I found Southern California Snake Removal Service, Inc. http://www.socalsnakeremoval.com/default.asp and was really impressed by this guy. He basically removes venomous snakes from people’s property and relocates them to a safe location. He does not kill any snakes that he captures, not even if the customer request the destruction of the animal. He has a petition to stop the rattlesnake roundup in NM on his website also.

He was really easy to work with in purchasing my baby hognose. I was wary in purchasing a snake online and having it shipped to me but I couldn’t be more pleased with this guy and the transaction. And I believe in singing someone’s praise when they do a good job, so here I am… singing!!!

He has a pair of adult W. Hognose that are ready to breed but I wanted to start out with a baby but they are good looking animals.

I don’t want anybody to get the wrong idea about this guy, he doesn’t keep, sell or breed anything that he captures. He explains all on his website.

I will post pics of my new addition as soon as I get him!! I can hardly wait!!!

Here is a pic of one of the babies (might be mine?)

Awww! What a cutie...=)

Fyi, there are some interesting pictures of the results of venomous snake bites on that website Wachee linked, under the link 'Pandora's Box'. Defiitely PG-13 and not for the faint of stomach...=P

Congrats on the beautiful baby! I'm completely entranced with mine and I haven't even gotten to hold him that much yet. :)

I'm also already interested in finding a female, I can see these guys getting as addicting as corns. ;)

Thank you! He is a doll! The fellow that I got him from has adult females for sale, I am not sure if he has any baby girls. He was such a nice guy to work with... you can tell that he really cares about his animals.

I have only held him a couple of times so far. He is so little compared to my others. When I was getting ready to take him out of the container that he was shipped in, he poked his head a lil' bit out of the substrate. It was so cute! all you could see was his nose and eyes! I tried to take a pic but my camera sucks up close (Have to invest in a newer one). He never acted scared or anything. What a lil trooper, he had just traveled from CA to OK, in about 18hrs and didn't really act to freaked out by it all.

I am having a hard time naming him also.. Hana did you settle on Wilbur? Did you see that that Hognose.com appears to be going under? none of the links worked for me.

Those were pretty nasty pics but it does show that people should leave handling hot snakes to the pros. I was reading on the Kansas Herp. page, that most bites were not accidentals like stepping on it, etc.

i really used to hate these, but for some reason over the last year or so i have started to really like them lol...
might be looking at some in the next week or so if all goes well

lol no, I settled on Wilberforce Clayborn Humphries after one of my favorite Britcoms. We're calling him Mr. Humphries for short. :)

A good name for one might be Truffle, since they use pigs to sniff them out. I don't know, but either way you have a lovely baby. :)

I did notice that the hognose.com site didn't seem to work at all. It's a shame, it looked like it might have some good information.

I also visited the site of the gentleman you bought yours from. If I can't find another in a few months I might have to send him an email. Maybe by then I could find someone who would want to split the shipping...
