Adding the second snake

Yesterday I went to the Maryland herp show and purchased a yearling from our forum's own Jason B. She is a pretty little motley het caramel (currently without a name). All of Jason's snakes were healthy well cared for, and I wouold certainly buy from him again.

But here is the issue. The first snake was easy, only one so I put it where I wanted and all was OK.

I understand that you should keep new snakes in a separate area for "a while" to make sure they don't bring in any diseases. Well, frankly, I am more worried about my original snake infecting the new one. I have had him for over 5 months, so I guess he is safe, but on the other hand he came from PetCo, so you never know.

I currently have the new snake as far away as the physical layout of my apartment allows. That means she is in the bedroom. It's ok, but not convenient for cleaning and feeding.

How long would you wait before moving them to the same room? I'll try and post some pics after her settling in period. Any suggestions for a name would help too, am thinking something chocolate themed, maybe Snickers.

Thanks in advance.
