Adoption

I was doing a little searching on the net to see if there might be any cornsnakes in my area in need of adoption at the local shelters. Unfortunately, there was nothing in my area, but there were some corns, boas and other assorted snakes in other areas. I am posting the link (hope it goes to the right spot) for any of you who might be able to give one (or several) of these snakes loving homes they deserve. If anyone does adopt, I would be really interested in hearing about it!!! Thanks for taking a look! :)

Just type in your zip code and enter to see the snakes.

I looked, but the ones nearest to me were in Riverside, CA. While I will be passing through there this weekend, I don't think 3 days is enough to find room for a 9-foot snake :p

This is a great link to post Bekah. Thanks.

There are way too many that need homes close to me. However, I don't think I need a baby Burmese python, or anything else right now. I did dog rescue, specializing in large breeds, for 15 years, and it can be heartbreaking work. If you can't adopt one, please find a rescue organization near you and give them a donation. Even just a few buck can make a big difference if everybody pitches in. It tends to be the responsible owner that frequent sites like our forum, and we have to make up for all the people out there that see herps as disposable pets. OK, sorry for the time on the soap box, I will now return you to your regularly scheduled programs.

Thank you both for looking! As I said...I happened to stumble upon this while doing my own searching on the net and posted it because, who knows, maybe someone out there can help.

Flygning - There was nothing located near me, either. LOL - no, I don't think that's enough time...then there are travel arrangements as well (maybe snake will fork up gas money - j/k! lol).

I understand EXACTLY where you're coming from brownie...I dealt with "someone else's mistake" for months. I took in a "Lab" "Pup" (she was neither Lab nor pup hence the quotes) who was OBVIOUSLY abused. I made great progress with her, but that was also a problem - I was the only one she ever took to. It'll make me feel guilty for the rest of my life, but when she started to snip and show unwarrented signs of aggression toward my then 2 year old daughter, I had to make a choice. I can only hope someone else could provide her with the type of home I couldn't (a childless one). It broke my heart that because of someone else's ignorance, stupidity, arrogance, indecency and total disrespect for life in general, that this dog could no longer stay with me for my daughter's safety. Sorry - now I'm on the soapbox. In no way should my statement be taken in such a way as to cause someone not to adopt an animal of ANY sort - quite the contrary...many of them would make fine pets. I adopted 2 cats from the shelter a little over 16 years ago...best cats anyone could have ever asked for!!!

It is just my hope that maybe someone out there might be able to adopt one of these snakes. I understand that there will always be animals in need. But I know there will always be good people with big hearts out there too!

THANKS FOR LOOKING!

hiya :wavey:

I checked the link then realised it doesn't cover the U.K. :shrugs: :(

thank you

*lol*. They have huge adult pythons. Unfortunately you can't adopt one if you have small children. So unfair. Now what should he eat? :D

Adopt a cornsnake!

Any particular type your looking for. I have a 04 normal available.
Parents-Hypo het caramel x Normal het hypo.

I think its a good post up. I have a friend in NY who works at a shelter like those listed and they had just gotten in some Iguanas. I told when she gets some snakes in to give me call. :)

I found some that are close to me, but all were pythons and such, and I have 5 dogs with free reign of the house, and a little one on the way. Don't think that a python that caon get over 10 feet in lenth would be good.

But, this is a good post to get people aware of things. If I were living alone still, I wouldn't hesitate to adopt one of the pythons. they are one of the snakes that I would love to have besides my corns. Bermise are some of the most wonderful snakes that I have been in contact with....with exception of my corns that is.
