I am just wondering why my snake is so aggressive when I go to take it out of the tank once I have it there is no problem but he snaps and whatnot before I get him

How old is he and how often do you handle him? Younger corn snakes are usually more scared and aggressive, and the more you handle, the more he'll calm down.

Corn snakes can be aggressive if they're frightened. Mine used to be aggressive but now that I handle him regularly he's calmed down.

When you go to pick him up, be confident and calm. A lot of people use a scooping method so they feel more secure - just get your hands underneath him and scoop haha. I pick mine up at the thickest part of him and then slide a hand underneath him. Just find a way that works for you and your snake.

Confidence is key and the more you handle him, the more he'll calm down. Hope that helps a bit :)

I think he's about a year old. Yeah that does help that's what I've heard the "scooping" method just not to grab from above because they fear it's a predator. I handle as much as I can well at least daily If I can. Sometimes I just don't handle for a day or so after I feed him and then sometimes I work a lot after those days so I don't daily as much as I'd like

That all sounds fine then. He'll probably calm down in his own time then, just needs some patience :) make sure his temps are correct but if he's eating okay then it sounds like they're fine. Just keep trying, it can take a while :) i hope he calms down soon!

Me too lol it just weirded me out because u had one when I was younger didn't so much remember it ever snapping or anything but I also was just in middle school or anything and probably had a lot more time to handle I think lol we thank you for your input.

Yeah, and corn snakes can have vastly different person as well! No bother, my corn was a problem for a wee while as well :)

Also - if he is still small enough, cupping him in your hands when you take him out at first can help him feel secure.

Another trick is to leave some of your clothing around the viv so he gets used to your sent. And of course the "scooping" method is the least traumatic way to take them out.

My corn snake was very skittish as a baby, but has definitely calmed down with frequent handling.

Good luck!

Not sure just took a pic
