All slugs?

I'm back (twice as ugly and twice as bad!) with a new thread!
I've got a nice pair of virgin anery stripes that has been bred this spring. They are both 07's and have matured very nicely.
Anyway, now the female has been pregnant for about 40 days. Two days ago she laid one slug. My first thought was that she would lay the rest of the eggs the following day.

But there haven't been any more eggs since the one slug.:realhot: I picked her up tonight to have a feel. Her whole lower body is pretty swolen and the eggs is quite noticable. When I feel the eggs on the outside of her body they are very hard. So now I'm thinking if they are all slugs that she can't lay? Her lower body is pretty heavy and almost limp-like.
I thought I would let her have one or two more days to lay her eggs before I start massaging her...

What do you think?

Sometimes they drop odd slugs a few days (or even a week or two) before the main clutch. You could still have a fertile clutch due, so leave her in peace and wait to see what happens.

I wouldn't try massaging them out. You risk rupturing the eggs and if they leak inside her, that might lead to septicaemia. If she gets eggbound, the most likely symptom will be a swelling right down by the vent.

Right now, I'd say she's very near laying and you're in danger of disturbing her to the point where eggbinding is a risk. Resist further temptations to handle her - make sure her laying box is ready to go and leave her alone for a few days.

Hi there again, here's an update on my female that's possible eggbound. Today I checked on here agai and now she's having a big bulge near the vent. She's also roaming the cage, and her lower body is stiff that she makes it hard for the snake to coil up. She has two hideboxes, one dryer and one that's moist. Now I'm thinking about doing some kind of procedure i.e. maybe puncture the last egg...

What do you think. Maybe anyone with experience from a similar situation?

I would suggest a trip to a qualified veterinarian. In the future, try to breed only mature adults (3 years old, 300 grams).

This is girl is only two years, however she's large enough (above 300 grams and 3 feet). I'll have a chat with a vet during the day.
