Allergies to corn snakes??

I've been searching the internet forever and couldn't find a thing on this so I thought maybe you all could help me out!

I just bought my baby corn snake today and I feel I may be allergic to him but I can't find any information on how to really tell.

I handled him a bit in the store and once I got home then I noticed a couple areas on my hands were red. They didn't itch and didn't hurt at all. So I put him in his tank and waited for them to disappear, which they did and I decided to try one more time. So I picked him for another few minutes and I got one more pinkish-red rash on my knuckle which like the others disappeared within a few minutes with no pain or itching.

Maybe I'm not noticing him nipping me or something but I really hope I'm not allergic to him because I really want to keep him.

Never heard of anyone being allergic to Corns - reptiles are usually recommended for those with feather or fur allergies.

However, you might be allergic to something like the sub-strate. I think I've read of someone who had problem with the dust from Aspen.

What was the shop keeping him on, and what are you keeping him on?

IF I remember correctly (and that is a big IF) humans are not alergic to snakes of any type. My guess is bitsy is right, it is the substrate you have him on.

i dont think its the snake could be the bedding, try newpaper. wash everything in the cage. did you know if he was fed? am deathly alergic to mice! maybe you picked up a bag of mice when you got him? maybe it could be that.
