Dipper Pines is a snake
So I noticed Snipper (my corn) seems to be a bit duller in colour and the black checkers on his belly seem a bit lighter now.

I was wondering if he was going into shed? From what I was told he shed about a week before christmas. He's about 11-12 months old.

Or could his colours just be changing due to age?

Or am I going crazy?
 
Sounds like he's in "blue". The first cycle of shedding. His dullness will clear up then he will shed soon after.
It's a bit soon if he did just shed before Christmas but not that unusual. Each snake's shed cycle can vary quite a lot.
 
The cloudy or "blue" eyes happen in the first phase of the shed cycle. The eyes clear up in the second phase. If he is in shed then he is in the second phase.
