I See Snakes...
Alright, I had a request to post pics of my boy after Deb posted pics of hers, so even though I haven't seen him shed yet (which I might have missed during his most recent cage clean) I took him out to grab a few quick pictures of him.

Here he is back when we got him (for those who have forgotten what he looked like then and for those who didn't see him the first time around):

And here he is now:

If I can get him to sit still long enough, I will take more pictures of him later. Including one in his old deli cup for size comparison. Though, I don't think he fits in it any more.

He's doubled in length and either doubled or tripled in weight since we got him back in Dec 2007. He's eating 5 day old rat pinks or 2 Lg mouse pinks (2 small fuzzies) every 5-7 days.

I'm also making it a point to hold him more often as he's getting a touch skittish and the last thing I want is a huge 6ft plus milk snake with an attitude. Or is it 7ft plus??? I can't recall, either way that would be more 'tude than I want! lol

Enjoy the pics!

Your milksnake is very pretty... Another snake on my wish list once my boyfriend gets used to my addiction...:( But I don't think that is gonna happen soon...

Thanks! Normally I don't care for the melanin wash over the majority of the milk snakes (which is why I prefer the amel versions 9 times out of 10) but this guy is pretty cool and he has the Inca patterning (the spots, dots, and dashes type aberrant thing he has going on) which makes him cool looking.

That and he'll fill the need for a larger snake without getting to an unmanageable size. Plus he'll make a good garbage disposal when he's an adult - and you can never have enough living disposals.

lol, it took me 3 years to talk my husband into getting ONE snake, and look at how many we have now! The key is to find some aspect of the snake that appeals to your boyfriend and go from there.

In my case, it only took four little words 'My Mother hates snakes' coupled with 'If we have one, she'll visit less'. Two weeks later we had our first.

I wish it was that easy...:( My boyfriend thinks he's a control freak... He hates all of my pets...

Beautiful Andian! I had no idea they could reach up to 6 feet. He sounds like he is growing well, keep us posted on that neat fellow. I love his ventral btw...

Yeah, they are one of the largest milk snakes, right up with the Mexican black milk snake - I think. Elle will know... as she has one of them. His belly is just fantastic. I love how red it is.

Here's an older pic of the full belly:
