Ok so my corn snake has been acting pretty normal since I have had her (3 weeks) but she ate yesterday and went to the top of the aquarium to sit on a hanging vine that is really close to the light (88 degrees). I thought this was normal because she just wanted to bask, but she hasn't left that spot since. She has been there for over 15 hours. Is this a bad sign. The temperatures aren't bad in my aquarium. The lowest it gets in the day time is 71 and thats on the cold end, and it actually gets hotter in the night time because my corn snake seemed to prefer it because she was more active at night and would bask so on the cold end it gets up to 76-77. On the hot end it stays about 86-86 the whole time. What am I doing wrong? Thanks all

I wouldn't be concerned that she's hanging out for many hours in a warm spot after a meal. But I think you'd be better off heating the tank with a thermostat-regulated under-tank-heater (UTH), and getting rid of the bulb. If you still want the tank to be illuminated, use a low-heat fluorescent bulb. Incandescent lamps dry out a terrarium considerably, and corns really aren't baskers anyway (in the wild, they hide during the day). They do better with belly heat. Good luck.

Yeah I have a very low night light and I have an undertank heater. Both together actually seem to make a perfect temperature gradient. It is pretty hot at the hot end, then pretty warm, because of the light, in the middle, then cool at the other end
