cat liter? does it work to throw some in with mice to control the smell? what about transfer to the snake?

I searched but couldn't find anythign.

I can't tell you where but I read it is't a good idea with the regular kitty litter. There is a pellet type of kitty litter a recylced paper product tat you can use for rodents. There is even one that is multi-colored. I tired it for a while, but cleaning is the best way to go for me

I figured that much... I mean if it has been a good idea, then someone smarter than me would have thought of it by now. :) Thanks!

Not the cheap clay litter. It's far too dusty and will cause respiratory problems, as well as being breathed in and ingested and then passed on to the snake.

As mentioned, the only safe one is the recycled paper pellets.
The most popular is "Yesterdays News", make sure to get the unscented. The cat litter version is cheapest, but the same product is also sold for small animals and ferrets in a smaller and much more expensive bag.

FWIW, a large bag of YN, about 30 lbs, goes for about $15 so it's not exactly cheap.

Pelleted bedding is the best there is for odor control, especially useful for mice, with the strong male urine smell.

I'm currently using wood stove pellets, $4 for 40 lbs at Menards, a much better value than any other pelleted bedding.

Flagg, I have seen you say that before and I have went to two different supply places in our area and can't find wood pellets that would be safe as far as I can tell. They all say on them not safe for human or animal consumation (which I can't figure out why humans would eat it...). Plus of all I looked at they dont' state what type of wood is used in them. I started to use shredded newspaper and I got some kiln dried wood shavings that look like aspen but again they don't say what is in it. Any suggestions where to look for the wood pellets that would be a nation wide store?
