April Fool's

Okay, I know it's not the 1st but this certainly ranks as an April Fools prank played by Smokey.

This morning my husband wakes me up. "I have some sad news. The dogs ate Smokey".

It seems that my husband could not find Smokey in his tank, had forgot to put the clamps on the cover and had assumed Smokey pushed the lid open and fell onto the dogs (they sleep in front of the tanks) and the dogs ate him. My husband said he looked everywhere and could not find the snake.

Naturally, I think he's joking. "No, it's real, I spanked the dogs and locked them out of the house and they are sleeping outside tonight."

I get up and look in the tank. No Smokey. Did you check the aspen - No. :bang:

So I get the lid off, move the branches and water bowl out and start sifting through the aspen. Lo and behold, there's Smokey. He was sleeping until my fingers woke him up. :grin01:

I guess you all know the rest of the story. The dogs got two biscuits each and an apology along with a car ride. My husband clamps on the lid and Smokey went back to sleep.

So, folks. Any snake play any April Fools on you?

:crazy02:

LOL, good story, I'm glad that really didn't happen.

Well, I had put my new snake in with my other male who had already bred once this year. He really looked like he didn't like her but I made him stay with her for a while. They are in a different cage (the breeding cage). It does close but it doesn't lock. I thought that they would be fine in it so I went outside. About 30 minutes later I went to check on them (this is in my room) and it was open! So I was freaked. My female corn was sitting right behind it but the male wasn't there. I looked under the bed and then decided he probably didn't get too far. I looked under a pillow about 3 feet away and there he was. LOL, it was scary, and it turned out that they didn't breed, ohh well I found them both.

It's terrifing to think that one of the snakes got loose. This house has a lot of nooks and cranies that a snake can hide in. I told Kevin that if one of the snakes did get loose and the dogs started chasing that the snake would hide under furniture. But my heart was so down when I thought Smokey was breakfast for the dogs.

The funny thing is that my husband said he knew the dogs ate Smokey because he smelt their breath and it smelled like snake. :shrugs:

The dogs have the gross habit of getting into the garbage and eating snake poo. And forgetting they raided the garbage yesterday -

It was funny after Smokey was found but heartbreaking up to that point.

Lol, their breath smelled like snake. :grin01: Well hopefully that never happens. My dogs would be scared of a snake, they are scared of everything.
