last night i made some adjustments to charles cage. Since he loves to climb along the lid at the top, i tied some plastic vines to the lid so that he could climb along these also. Well my plan worked and he was up there climbing all night. I was very surprised when he was still there in the morning and all throughout the day instead of in his hide. Check out the pics below in the 2nd pic he was sleeping. My question for u guys is do u think this could have been as a result of something not being right in the tank or since he is about to shed hie is very sensitive and prefers hanging instead

sweet! I'm hoping that mine will climb with the vines and wood i have set up in the tank.

Any chance of you posting a side shot of you tank setup? :)

I honestly think he just found himself a real comfy spot. I think a lot of corns like to climb more than people think. I used to find them in trees a lot, back when I field collected

heres a side shot of the tank you can see charlie in the top right corner

Not at all, and maybe that's why he's up there, thermoregulating. It's probably warmer though, as heat rises and is somewhat stabilized within the confines of the Viv. Assuming you are using some type of UTH. I think, never was real good at science LOL

speaking of temp. If you use UTH, where the best place to but the thermometer on the warm side if you use about an inch-1.5" of repti-bark? flat against the substrate? or sitting up?

I measure the temps inside the hides since they normally spend most of the time inside of one or the other. If your snake burrows a lot u may wanna measure the temp below the surface you'll be surprised how hot it can get below the surface

my corn has done the same thing since i put in his flexi branch, hes only been out of the thing once.
oh well as long as hes happy :)

my flick loves his vines. even after a pretty large meal last nite, he managed to haul his big butt up there.

cute snake, btw.

Gator, is the wood/leaf structure one or two peices? A DIY job?

its two pieces the wood i bought at petsmart for about $12 its just lying in the tank. The vine i got from the dollar store and just attached it to the lid in several spots using a wire
