I personally wouldn't use it since it is messy...Since the snake is so little I prefer to use paper towels since I can easily spot the "poop"...When you use a loose bedding you run the risk of not knowing when your snake had a bowel movement last(if the snake is constipated you will know), you can't quickly check to see if you have an escapee and you also run the grave risk of bedding ingestion...

The ingestion of loose bedding is one of the most common causes of death's in cornsnakes...IMHO...Especially when they burrow down in the bedding...I have lost several snakes due to impaction from the aspen bedding that was ingested while burrowing or shedding...
