ATV or submarine?

In the Army, I had my own personal Humvee for the last 4 months while in Iraq. I BEAT THE CRAP out of the thing. I was FOB security and Had to constantly roam around the fob. We used to race the things and play Cat and mouse with the other FOB Response Team. Had this HUGE mud hole by the Wash rack and the day we needed to goto the wash rack to had them over we put it to the test, the things practically never die.

haha, ya my brother in law said they use to beat the living day lights out of the ones they used when he was stationed in Iraq. he also had some pretty funny video of there "target practicing" lol. Like the 50 cal that they shot so long the barrel started to droop from the heat from the repeated gun fire. I ya, and that was is CO that was shooting the 50 cal btw lol.

Yea, us being on the fob, we had these crap humvee that we had to take to the shop all the time. We had like 8 of them and only 4 were worth a crap. Mine would kick up some dirt though. they had this Quarry the US civilians were working on at this one area of the FOB and in the Early stages of it, they had a road that went down the middle of it, had some sweet curves, I took it all the time for a short cut. My team and the other team were racing, I took that and lost them, they were too scared, there was only enough room FOR THE HUMVEE and like 6 inches on each side (or so it seemed). One day we had to react to a Mortar strike and get a back Asmyth so our guys on the FOB could return fire. ( Had to do Blast analysis to do this.) Well it was a long drive unless we took that short cut. Went to take it and the civilians had it all dug out into a full quarry, I ened up stopping parallel to the cliff about 4 ft away. Almost put that Fully Armored humve over it. I have no idea how deep the water was but the cliff to the water had to be 30-40 ft drop.

O wow, ya that would have sucked to gone over the cliff in that thing. So I take it you h ad to turn around and take the long way then hu?

Ya but i still had time to shoot a back asmyth for Counter fire team and we successfully countered them. Was a good day for we took no deaths and only minor Casualties. Turns out they fired from some Palm grove/jungle area and it was high in Explosives. The Counter fire took care of most of it, EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) had to take care of the rest, it was an Amazingly huge explosion, it actually mushroom clouded a bit.

They're a cool set of dudes. They had all the cool toys such as the EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle), basicly an M14 but a shorter Barrel and Modular stock. Looks a lot like this:

Wow, I bet that was pretty wild to see.

looks like they do have some nice toys. Do those use 5.56? Or do they use something more like 7x62?

Ya, the EBR's are sweet, sure beats carrying a room clearing rifle and a M14 for Long ranges like I had to. The platoon sent me to SMD school (Squad Designated Marksmen), basicly just teaches you to get the max range capacity of the M4. With an Acog (like a 3x power scope) i could shoot a 1ft disc at 600m and hit it 4 times out of 10 (with a good Spotter to call winds). After sending me to SDM school, they switched the platoon around. They made me a m243 gunner because we needed one, qualified expert on it and when we deployed, they gave me an M14 to carry as well. Due to all my weight it taked on the vehicle unless I needed it.

The EBR and M14 are 7.62. M4, M16 and M243 are 5.56.

The best Part of being in the army and going to Iraq was driving the Stryker. After 8 months of being there, they made me a driver to let our drive get a break from driving. He was once a Saw gunner too (saw = m243). But before driving the stryker, i never got an adreneline rush after the first 4 months, and driving the stryker was like jumping out of the C130 in airborne school. That thing is Awesome to drive.

Here's one getting stuck. Only happened to me once. Because it was Dark, the things are 8 wheel drive. These guys could have got out had they had enough throttle going into it. Some people don't understand you need tire RPM's to fling the mud out to get more Traction.

This shows it's Capabilities.
