So, we just started raising meat rabbits and our first litter kindled yesterday. Today we took them out and weighed them so I figured I'd take some pics. We have 6 healthy kits, 2 blue, 4 white. and if I sexed them correctly, a good spread on gender
They are American Blues and Whites, a heritage breed of meat rabbits (meaning there aren't very many, 5th most rare breed actually).
Were raising them both as food for us and our boas as they get bigger. Roxy is actually going to be getting her first taste of rabbit in a few days as there was a 7th kit that had to be euthanized.
In terms of snake food, the day old kits weighed in at 42-55g. Putting them in the range of xl adult mice or weaned rats. According to Rodentpro, rabbits are higher in protein but lower in fat then either mice of rats.
We'll probably update with new pictures and weights as they grow.
