I've seen a lot of people using peg board for backing on their vivs as backing and air holes. This is the same idea used in the plans I have for my vivs, but I don't want to use pegboard. Does anyone have any ideas for nicer looking backing? I was thinking of using half wood/half screen?
 
You could use screen door material for the back, it's super cheap, you'd just have to figure out how you want to attach it. On mine I just drilled a row of holes across the top back, and while my snakes were smaller I covered the holes with screen to make sure they couldn't get through.
