Beardies

We have three bearded dragons in the house. All three were my little brothers. And he neglects all three. My mom does the best she can with them, but we have a lot of animals in the house. He got them when he was young, and took excellent care of them for a long while. But then I guess he got bored of them. Two of them are doing pretty well (ironically the best one came to us pretty sick as a rescue) but the other (the oldest) is very skinny. A few days ago, I decided to take over their care, at least for a while. I found the mesh scoopy thing and did their cages really well and have been feeding them salad every day. I plan on getting more crickets (blech) and kingworms for them ASAP. Here are a few pics of Chloe (the rescue girl)

I will probably take some pics of the other two later on, but I just wanted to add a blurb about Chloe on here.
I really like her. She's pretty damn good with being handled (especially considering none of them have been handled at all in more than a year) and though she isn't spectacular (I know nothing about dragon morphs) I find her pretty. Her beard is all black in the pics cuz she's not so used to being handled.
As I said, she was a rescue from someone who my mom knew who owned a place called J&J Reptiles here in Calgary AB. He offered it to my brother without consulting my mom first and it turned out to be a "you take her or she goes in the freezer" deal (said to my mom when my brother wasn't listening) and since my mom is much like me in that we're suckers for a baby in need (like many on here) we took her. She was a real mess. A sweetheart, but a mess. She is missing the tips of many toes and her tail. She was soooo bony, and one of her toes was kinda bloody and gross. We nursed her back to health, and she's been the healthiest out of the three since. I know she's laid a few sets of infertile eggs.

My mom is looking to maybe sell them once they're healthy again, and though my brother says he doesn't want to see them go, he still does nothing to take care of them unless forced (he's 13 BTW). I am thinking about keeping Chloe if she does sell them (and even if she doesn't I'll take her with me when I move out). She needs a little assistance shedding because of her toes, and I don't like the thought of sending a sort of 'special needs' baby away. She's chilling on my chest as I write this!

I just thought I would tell you guys a story for nothing, and state that I want to repeatedly smack my brother for the way they are treated. I know they'll do much better under my care, and my mom is so relieved that they'll be taken care of and that she has three less pets to take care of.

:)
