So im thinking either last year, or two years ago (maybe 2010, too much has happened)... I got into the reptile business by purchasing a little 8 month old Colombian Red Tailed Boa.
She was the prettiest thing, and it reminded me that I am an adult, I am out of my mothers home, and I can basically do whatever I want when it comes to keep certain types of pets (my dad didnt have a problem with me keeping snakes, but my mother exed it out of our lives completely).
When I joined FaunaClassifieds, just to search out some opinions, information and basic care (since I was a total noob at everything herp related), it was an interesting time.
Searching around and looking at different types of snakes, I really did fall in love with Corns.
Dont get me wrong, some of the boa and python morphs are really pretty (the lipsticks and mojave), but.. I really liked the variety of cornsnakes and how medium to small sized they were.
I dont mind keeping a snake for its entire life and watching it grow to 12 feet, but.. I really wanted some snakes I could keep on a smaller basis without having like, 20 cages that were over 20 feet long.
So, I came here.
I bought a couple snakes from someone here, bought a couple more (which died on me sadly), and just continued on with my life.
Honestly, when Kanoi, Rocky and Angel died, and I only had Avery left, it was more... like I considered myself out of the corn business and my husband and I focused mainly on our two boas.
But I recently came upon a couple deals I couldnt pass up, as well as finding a wonderfully rewarding job in the animal business (im an animal control officer now), and just couldnt help myself.
So now, instead of just having little Avery in her aquarium, sitting there atop Adam and beside Eve, she now has some buddies.
I aquired two adult snakes, one Miami Phase and a Snow, one Sub Adult Creamsicle/Butter (i would have to look at my emails since i forgot what she was and honestly i am so not versed in my cornsnake morphs anymore), and I got a nice little normal cornsnake with beautiful coloring from Ben Siegal.
Now, since I have five of the little beasties, I figured I would reintroduce myself and spend a little bit more time here, since next year I will have the means and space to breed the two adults I acquired.

I am a soon to be legally married (been with the same man for six years, so were practically married anyway), mother of three awesome kids who are as crazy about reptiles as I am.
I also got a job the beginning of last year, so now I work part time at the local animal shelter and have increased adoptions through social networking (woo go me!).
I have several red eared/yellow bellied sliders, although we are only really going to keep two yellow bellied and the red eared slider, since we dont or wont have enough room/time for five full grown turtles.
The little turtles are mostly cared for by my son, who is 5 years old and ... instead of reading the story about the boy and his dog, its the boy and his turtle, since he wants to take his turtles (swimmer and speedy ocean), everywhere with him, including on car rides to the store (which of course, i tell him no since we dont have a portable aquarium lol).
My boas are still basking in their own cages full of warmth.
Adam has lost his cage aggression, now he doesnt care what you do as long as you keep him out of his aquarium for more than five minutes.
Eve is still a picky eater as always (ugh right now she wont eat anything but live).
Avery is still very dainty and ladylike and when you hold her, its like she feels free and needs to get away... shes my crazy snake.
I also acquired a full setup and two regular ball pythons from someone local, that turned out they had no idea how to properly care for reptiles, and I have deemed them my rescues.
There has been such a long story, since ive had them for two or three weeks now (id have to check dates on the FC forum posts i made asking how to care for wounds), and they are doing much better and actually healing up.
These two guys are male until proven otherwise, Robbie and Lucky (since Lucky, is lucky to be alive after the beating he took with his food).
I also still have my brothers hypo tangerine Gecko, which we discovered is a female, yay! So she sits up there on her high perch just like a queen.
My Timor Monitor is skiddish and goofy, and since we dont know the sex yet (and really cant until they become sexually mature), he is a he and his name is Spike. I figure my monitor is bada** and needs a bada** name. Hehe.
But all in all its been a good year and I hope to be more active here in the forums as I now own more cornsnakes and probably should brush up on my morphs n whatnot.
Im also spotting a LOT more Tesseras than there were in 2010, so the mutations and varieties im going to see come NEXT year or later this year, will be fantastic to watch.
I wouldnt mind seeing a Miami Phased Tessera somewhere among the hatchlings this fall since my Miami Phase has gotten quite attached to my husband (which is a good thing!).
Anyway, have a great day everyone!
And I apologize this is long, but ive time to kill before I clean kennels (which after this I will do), and I felt the urge to spawn a novella!
