I did do a search and read around so no flamming. Time is short for me with finals coming up and I need some quick answers.

I've ordered from Rodent Pro and Big Cheese Rodent Factory before. Rodent pro order was two years ago and the quality was horrendous which lead me to make my second order at BCRF. Now that a year has passed I was wondering what most people use these days...

Thanks!

website? why? Who else have you used (is American Rodent the only one?)?

Thanks!

I also used American Rodent and was quite pleased. Now I have no real experience with other companys but I had no problems with their F/T.

I recently switched to BCRF from Rodentpro, and am astounded at the difference. My thawed mice don't make me gag anymore! I will never go back. My BCRF order came vacuum packed and was actually cheaper than the estimate from Rodentpro. All prey items were arranged neatly and CLEAN. There were 2 packs that had gotten punctured in shipping, but I didn't see the holes, and what do you expect out of an order of >1000 assorted prey items? Just my .02!

What do you mean? I was thinking about placing an order with rodentpro, and I was just curious if you could explain what you meant. I would rather go with the supplier you suggested if rodentpro is inferior in any way.

Thanks

Justin

Shep how recent were your experiences?

My orders from Rodent Pro always came with feces and urine all over the mice and they were all contorted up, smooshed and in bad shape.

My order from BCRF (a year ago), was like you described, vacuum sealed, orderly, clean, nice...

Just wanted to see if anything had changed in a year...

livefood.co.uk for people in the UK.

Highly recomend and with mext day am delivery, the more you buy the more you save. A plus for service and good rodents and other products.

Buschjs,
I mean that after thawing most of the mice I purchased from Rodentpro smelled absolutely foul, like urine and rotting something-or-other. I even had a weanling pop after only being struck by a yearling corn. That was very messy to clean up after taking it away from him. Absolutely disgusting.
Homer,
My experiences have been exactly as you are describing. The difference between the two suppliers is like night and day.
Rodentpro=Filthy, stinky, smooshed, smooshey, feces all over, wood chips all over, not vacuum packed, etc. VERY unpleasant.
BCRF=Clean, apparently fresh, well presented, adults mice and rat pups (and up) laid out on styrofoam trays, all vacuum packed. Very pleasant.
As I said earlier, the thing that surprised me the most was that my order was cheaper from BCRF than from Rodentpro. I never expected such an increase in quality with a decrease in price.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, I plan to place a somewhat large order very soon. This thread has helped me choose my supplier for this and future orders.

Thanks again

Justin

rodent pro

I have used rodent pro and big cheese.
I have gone back to Rodent Pro.
Rodent Pro is the cheapest I have found.
Granted, there have been some times when the quality was extremely bad, but when I contacted them about the condition of their mice they credited me for the amount on my next order.
The Big Cheese rodents were better but the higher price combined with longer waiting time outweighed the quality.
Another problem with Big Cheese was inability to order online.
I didn't like having to call. I would usually end up ordering at 11:00 or 12:00 at night and this made it a little difficult.
I have also checked the listings of about 10 other suppliers and Rodent Pro's prices arte lower then them all.
So, I would recommend Rodent Pro but also recommend that you contact them immediately if they send inferior product.
They have shown their willingness to rectify problems.

I also use RodentPro. I agree with Jimmy that their mice and rats don't always come clean and they aren't vacuumed sealed, but Rodentpro is definitely willing to replace or give credit for any rodents that aren't satisfactory.

I had been using RodentPro for a while when The Big Cheese rodent Company was suggested to me. I placed an order with the BCRF and I was very happy with how the mice were packaged. I was going to continue using them...

Unfortunately, most of my snakes wouldn't eat the mice from BCRF. I don't know if it was because my snakes like the smelliness of the mice from RodentPro or what. I thought it was kind of strange. Anyway, I went back to RodentPro because my snakes definitely prefer the mice from there. RodentPro is MUCH cheaper, as well.

Yeah, to be honest Jimmy I totally feel ya on that whole online ordering thing and wouldn't even be an issue if BCRF had online ordering of some kind. I too am forced to do much of my banking and online purchasing/transactions at off hours due to schooling.

Unfortunately or forunately, however you want to look at it, a few extra pennies and a lot less hastle outweigh the whole "get what you pay for" side of saving those pennies...

CornCrazy- that's CRAZY! (lol) :shrugs: :sidestep:

Homer...I know it's crazy! It's a true story, though. My snakes really LIKE the smelly mice! Even my baby snakes wouldn't eat pinks from BCRF. :shrugs:

i have never mail-ordered mice...i get them from the pet store...the one i usually use carries 'the gormet rodent'...does anyone have any comments about them?....the only time i got mice from a different pet store they cost much more and i don't think they wer a brand....i think they wer bred there. :shrugs:

That's true, CornCrazy and Jimmy, I won't knock Rodentpro's customer service, but I would rather not need customer service for issues like these. I have never called BCRF. I paid with PayPal and placed my order via e-mail.

gourmet

PetCo uses Gourmet Rodents.
When I run out and need a few frozen pinkies before my next shipment arrives I will buy the gourmet rodent mice.
But it is not very often. Only when I have hatchlings in need of pinkies. I don't really like to disrupt their feeding schedules. I don't have a problem skipping a meal with the older snakes, though.
My snakes will readily eat them but at $1.29 each it just costs way too much.
I don't even know how much they charge for the adult mice.

I use rodent-pro and have had good service as well as good quality rodents! and you can't beat the price- I have it down to 42 cents per rodent! (including shipping) :)

well i proly dont have mutch of a comment to place here but.. i get mine from petco.. they are exspensive too....but.........my mom buys em for me :p
but i might look into 1 of those companys. but i need to no whats the lowest quantity you can buy?
