That's the only website you need.
But come on..... .60 an adult mouse! Maybe if you have a few snakes that works but when you feed out several hundred a week it starts to add up. No doubt their quality is good but their prices are a little less than desirable.

You get what you pay for, Jeff. Obviously if you have 500 adults then perhaps it isn't feasible, but after trying RP and BC there really isn't a comparison.

Rodent Pro is the only place I've ordered from, so can't really compare to the others, but their mice/rats are just fine, quality wise. And their customer service is very good, in my opinion. Yeah, the sizes are sometimes a bit wide-ranging and the packaging isn't as fancy, but I'd rather not pay extra for something that doesn't really make any difference in the feeder quality. My snakes happily eat them and grow just fine, and I have yet to have single regurge in my entire collection (small as it may be). It all comes down to how much you're willing to spend and what you want to spend it on.

Well, here are some pictures from my order 2 years ago with them. And this is why I will never use RP again, and why I'm always suggesting TMF over them.

If you think this is 'good quality', well then....I just don't know.

That is REALLY bad quality Joe. According to the BOI, rodent pro probably isnt the best choice anyways. But I have seen pics of Big Cheese rodents (through Carol) and they looked ok! I think I am going to try them, until I get to the summer reptile expo.

I've gotta be careful-- people are going to start suspecting that Joe and I work for TMF. :grin01: For my last order, TMF's jumbos were actually cheaper than their adults. I believe they were .50/mouse. And they're HUGE, really only appropriate for 400g+ corns, but I have quite a few of those.

One thing that should be considered when comparing costs is nutritional value. I haven't done any scientific experiments regarding this, and I'm unlikely to do so, but I've seen extraordinary growth rates with TMF mice. In Don Soderberg's Corn Snake in Captivity, he recommends feeding adult females every 5-7 days. He also makes a pretty strong recommendation for feeding adult females no LESS frequently than every 7 days. I don't know what Don feeds his snakes, but if I fed my adult females on this kind of schedule using TMF mice, they'd be blimps! Most of my adult females are on ~9-day schedules, with skips and extensions incorporated because they STILL sometimes gain too much weight too quickly. A female on a 9-day schedule will eat 40 mice in a year. On a 7-day schedule, they will eat 52 mice per year. Using 12 fewer mice per year needs to be factored into a comparison, and I'm very much a believer in the concept that time is money, so that should be factored too.

Like I said, none of this is scientific. I'm just throwing this out there as food for thought. :)

Wow, I'm more and more impressed with TMF!I don't order from them or anyone else online because I just don't wan to bother with shipping charges, since I only am ordering mice for 4 snakes at the moment.

I would suggest contacting your local herp society, if there is one in Ohio, I bet there is, and ask if they know anyone (I don't mean pet stores! I mean breeders and others how have some sorce of quality mice!!) near you who sells frozen feeder mice. That's how I ended up with the current guy I get all my mice from. The mice are great quality, consistent size, and I just go to his house, were he has all the freezers, to grab the mice, so I can check the sizes and quality right there.

I have no idea if you'd find anyone, but it's worth a try, considering what you'll save on shipping and that you can check for quality, although I guess TMF is great.

wow, I can't believe I just did that. I just read the thread name again "best ONLINE place to buy feeders", so sorry.

personally i buy from american rodents. www.americanrodent.com

on a side note: i also have had a bad experience with rodent pro

John

Seems like they offer 'free shipping', but really jack up their prices on things to make up for it? And what's with the 1000 quantity discount?

Seems like TMF/BC is cheaper with their quantity discounts.
