i'm thinking of buying a sub-adult female off line and really want to breed her this comming season. I know i have to buy it soon if i intend to do so for the next season but is it safe and doable to breed a sub adult? it says she's 38-40 inches long.. that sounds right doesn't it?

She should be fine.

Sub-adult males I don't have a problem with, but females have to go through egg formation & laying and may not necessarily be internally developed enough to cope.

A 12 year old female human can have a baby (it's pretty common in my area...) but there are health risks and potential complications that would be greatly reduced in a fully adult female.

Breeding a sub-adult female Corn would be playing the odds amd if you choose to take that risk, it's yours to take. Just make sure you have money put aside for possible vet bills. Is it really urgent that you breed her? Would an extra year make such a difference? It might not be life and death to you, but it could be for her.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

hey thanks for pointing that out i oppened this account a year ago and haven't been on it really since then... so i haven't used it that much and didn't know the rules tht uro is long gone as well so it's not even a true statement thanks though :bounce:

A good rule of thumbs with females for breeding is the three 3's ...
3 yrs
3 feet
300 gms
Generally by that time they are healthy enough, old enough and large enough to greatly reduce any risks of breeding
