broken tail emergency!

When I looked over at Ozzy about 10 minutes ago, he was lowering himself from the top of his tank, between the tank and the lid and his tail was sticking out of the tank!
I got the lid off and now the part of his tail is broken and flattened..
I'm so upset, I don't know how this happened.. What do I do?
 
How far up the tail is it flat and presumed broken? Also how old is your corn/what size? could you provide pics?

Also how could this happen? i don't completely understand what you said. It sounds like your corn tried to escape but then changed its mind and went back into the vivarium but its tail was caught?
