Brumation & Eggs

Scrub

Woops... LOL
Are there any benefits from putting snakes into brumation, how do you do it and what happens to the snake?
Also, will female snakes lay eggs without having a mate (infertile of course), or do they only lay when they have been with a male?
Thanks,
Chris

I don't brumate and have been breeding successfully on and off for over ten years. Hopefully someone who has and hasn't can advise on the different results they've seen. I think brumation is supposed to increase the clutch sizes?

Females can lay clutches of infertile eggs even when they've never been near a male in their lives. However, it's more usual for them to ovulate, then when the egg follicles go unfertilised, they're reabsorbed rather than developing into infertile eggs.
